What Is Buffer Time?
Buffer time is a protected period placed before or after a booking during which another appointment cannot be scheduled.
A 30-minute consultation has a 10-minute buffer afterward so the host can write notes and prepare for the next call.
Why It Matters
Buffers prevent back-to-back overload, accommodate travel or preparation, and make schedules more realistic.
How It Works
The organiser configures the rule as part of the booking workflow. It is combined with working hours, calendar commitments, and other constraints before times are shown.
- The organiser defines the relevant rule or limit.
- The scheduler applies it while calculating bookable times.
- The invitee sees only options that remain eligible.
Common Mistake
Adding large buffers to every event without considering the meeting type, which can unnecessarily remove useful availability.
Review the surrounding booking flow and make the expectation clear to both hosts and invitees.
